Worth repeating

“2010-2011 could be an exciting year for CBJ fans as the team seems to be getting better and better. A couple of moves and they should be right there in the end.”

TOP GAMES

Penguins 6, Canadiens 1

Crosby gets hat trick in romp

Sidney Crosby had his third career hat trick and Pittsburgh became the first team to reach 10 victories this season by snapping Montreal's four-game winning streak last night.

Crosby, tied for fourth in the NHL with nine goals, had his third multiple-goal game in 12 starts this season for the Penguins (10-2-0).

Chris Kunitz also scored and assisted on all three of Crosby's goals. Mike Rupp and Alex Goligoski added goals, and Bill Guerin had three assists.

Islanders 3, Rangers 1

Weight returns from H1N1

Captain Doug Weight, in his first game back after a bout with the H1N1 virus, earned an assist on Kyle Okposo's tiebreaking, power-play goal in the second period for the Islanders.

Weight, who missed three games because of the illness, sent a cross-ice pass to Jack Hillen in the Rangers' zone. The defenseman fired a drive that bounced off goalie Henrik Lundqvist and past Rangers defenseman Dan Girardi onto the stick of Okposo, who slammed the puck into the open right side with 1:46 left.

Rookie John Tavares, the No. 1 pick in this year's draft, snapped a four-game scoreless streak with 5:06 left by posting his fourth goal in the Islanders' first regulation win.

P.A. Parenteau, in the Rangers' lineup because top scorer Marian Gaborik sat out because of an undisclosed injury he suffered two nights earlier, scored his first NHL goal.

Sabres 4, Devils 1

Buffalo still unbeaten on road

Clarke MacArthur and rookie Tim Kennedy scored early in the first period to help Buffalo remain unbeaten on the road.

Ryan Miller made 31 saves, and Paul Gaustad and Jason Pominville iced the game with third-period goals. The Sabres won all three games on their trip and are 4-0 on the road, joining Pittsburgh and New Jersey as the only teams without a road loss.

Defenseman Andy Greene scored on a power play for New Jersey.

OTHER GAMES

Senators 4, Panthers 3: Nick Foligno and Jarkko Ruutu scored second-period goals for Ottawa.

Pascal Leclaire stopped nine shots for the Senators, but left after the first period. According to the team's official Twitter page, the former Blue Jackets goaltender left because he felt ill.

Blues 5, Hurricanes 2: David Perron had two goals, Yan Stastny and Jay McClement scored 16 seconds apart and Chris Mason made 34 saves for St. Louis.

• Predators 4, Wild 3: Jerred Smithson scored a short-handed goal midway through the third period to give Nashville its second regulation victory.

• Avalanche 3, Flames 2: Wojtek Wolski broke a tie at 5:31 of the third period and Craig Anderson made 30 saves to help Colorado reach 10 victories.

• Stars 4, Maple Leafs 3, OT: James Neal scored with 2:03 left in overtime for Dallas.

NOTABLE

• Washington Capitals forward Quintin Laing is being treated for H1N1 and being kept away from the team.

• Vancouver Canucks goalie Roberto Luongo will miss at least two games after suffering a hairline fracture in one of his ribs during Saturday's 3-1 win over Toronto.

• Left winger Kyle Calder signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks, who released him late in training camp. He was assigned to the Ducks' minor-league affiliate in Bakersfield, Calif.
