TOP GAMES

BRUINS 4, CAPITALS 1

Thomas excels in Washington

Tim Thomas’ return to the nation’s capital was less about politics than picking up a victory, with the goaltender making 35 saves yesterday in Boston’s victory.

Playing about 10 blocks from the White House — which he famously avoided because of his political views two weeks ago when the reigning Stanley Cup champions were honored by President Barack Obama — Thomas shut out the Capitals until late in the third period.

Thomas was booed pregame, but he didn’t attribute it to the recent flap. “I think I’m pretty much booed at every arena, wouldn’t you say? Even before anything happened?” Thomas said.

Milan Lucic and Brad Marchand had first-period goals, and Tyler Seguin and Rich Peverley scored in the third for the Bruins.
